Few people now doubt the dire consequences of climate change. Action is needed now to stop an upward spiral in the Earth’s temperature. You can help by participating in an advisory workgroup that will shape the next version of Minnesota’s Climate Action Framework. The State will update the Climate Action Framework in 2025, and it is beginning engagement with Minnesotans now. The Climate Change Subcabinet and the Governor’s Advisory Council on Climate Change are seeking individuals who are interested in joining workgroups to inform the content of the framework. About The Township Of Eagles Nest

The Township of Eagles Nest was created on June 5, 1990 by resolution of the St. Louis County Board of  Commissioners under Minnesota Statute 379.02. Land for Township facilities was purchased in 1991 adjacent to the old fire house. The present Town Hall and Fire Department building was constructed in 1992-1993 and dedicated on June 19, 1993.

The elected officials of the Township are the five (5) Supervisors who make up the Board of Supervisors, the Clerk, and the Treasurer. They meet the third Wednesday of each month to conduct Township business. Meetings are open to the public, and regular Board meetings normally start at 5:00."

St. Louis County unveiled a new online mapping tool that breaks the county into 1,600 evacuation zones, enabling residents to view the fire risk level specific to their community or neighborhood. The map follows the Ready, Set, Go model so people can prepare and - if necessary - evacuate. The City of Ely has also developed an online mapping tool, and has worked with the county to ensure the systems are compatible. The web page also includes tips for reducing fire risk to property, as well as checklists on what to have packed and ready should a person or family need to evacuate quickly.
