About The Township Of Eagles Nest

The Township of Eagles Nest was created on June 5, 1990 by resolution of the St. Louis County Board of  Commissioners under Minnesota Statute 379.02. Land for Township facilities was purchased in 1991 adjacent to the old fire house. The present Town Hall and Fire Department building was constructed in 1992-1993 and dedicated on June 19, 1993.

The elected officials of the Township are the five (5) Supervisors who make up the Board of Supervisors, the Clerk, and the Treasurer. They meet the third Wednesday of each month to conduct Township business. Meetings are open to the public, and regular Board meetings normally start at 5:00."

St. Louis County unveiled a new online mapping tool that breaks the county into 1,600 evacuation zones, enabling residents to view the fire risk level specific to their community or neighborhood. The map follows the Ready, Set, Go model so people can prepare and - if necessary - evacuate. The City of Ely has also developed an online mapping tool, and has worked with the county to ensure the systems are compatible. The web page also includes tips for reducing fire risk to property, as well as checklists on what to have packed and ready should a person or family need to evacuate quickly.
